The mechanism for this resistance to colitis may be attributable to increased IL-22/JAK2/STAT3 signaling, since recent studies indicate that activation of STAT3 within the intestinal epithelium plays an important role in mucosal tissue repair through secretion of IL-22 from innate immune cells [8], [9], [10], [11], [12]. The gene discussed is JAK2; the disease is colitis.
