The results showed that the apoptosis rate of Kato-III cells transfected with AP-4 siRNAs(siRNA-1: 7.9%; siRNA-2: 9.2%) was higher than the control siRNA(3.3%) (p<0.05) and mock cells (3.5%) (p<0.05), but to a lesser extent than it did on the AGS (p<0.05) and SGC7901 cells (p<0.05), indicating that silencing AP-4 could induce apoptosis in gastric cancer cells through both p53-dependent and independent-manners.
