CTCF and breast neoplasm: Perhaps, loss of CTCF occupancy abrogates demethylation activities intrinsically associated with CTCF and thereby leads to methylation spread moving towards region P. This perturbation thus results in silencing of RARRES1 expression seen in the metastatic cultured cell lines (Figure 3C) as well as in the primary lymph nodes manifesting the advanced stages of breast neoplasm (Figure 6C).
