In the present study, we identified three frequently amplified genes in a cohort of well-characterized gastric cancer using real-time quantitative PCR method, including ERBB4, C-MET and CD44. ERBB4 (or HER4) is a member of the Tyr protein kinase family and the epidermal growth factor receptor subfamily, and plays an important role in normal cell growth and in neoplastic transformation [13]. Here, MET is linked to gastric cancer.
