Additionally, the data we obtained by microarray analysis of gene expression suggested that galectin-3 deficiency, in the background of CDAA diet-induced NAFLD/NASH, may cause alterations in the expression of various genes associated with cancer, cell death, cellular assembly and organization, cellular function and maintenance, organismal injury and abnormalities, and carbohydrate and lipid metabolism. This evidence concerns the gene LGALS3 and cancer.
