Several groups have demonstrated that DENV is a weaker inducer of type I IFN responses after infection of human dendritic cells, with a minimal production of IFNα/β [27,57,61] especially compared to other viral infections that competently induce significant levels of these fundamental cytokines, as is the case for Newcastle disease virus (NDV) [20] and Semliki Forest virus (SFV) [25]. The gene discussed is IFNA1; the disease is viral infectious disease.
