Consistent with earlier reports [11], [13], [14], the subtypes overexpressed genes involved in distinctive biological processes including: Bronchioid – excretion genes, asthma genes, and surfactants (SFTPB, SFTPC, SFTPD); Magnoid – DNA repair genes, such as thymine-DNA glycosylase (TDG); Squamoid – defense response genes, such as chemokine ligand 10 (CXCL10) (Fig. 1B). Here, CXCL10 is linked to asthma.
