Along this line, the antisurvival action of orexin A described in this work, together with the data demonstrating the ability of orexins to promote a robust apoptosis in different cancer cells in culture and a potent growth reduction of human colon tumors in mice xenografts (Rouet-Benzineb et al 2004; Voisin et al. 2011) points to orexin receptors as new and promising targets in studies on anticancer therapies.
