In experimental atherosclerotic renovascular disease (simulated by concurrent hypercholesterolemia and renal artery stenosis), it was reported that the activity of both CuZn and MnSOD isoforms was significantly decreased; however, protein expression of both the NAD (P)H-oxidase subunits p67phox and p47phox, nitrotyrosine, inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), and nuclear factor kappa-B (NFκB) increased. Here, NOS2 is linked to Hypercholesterolemia.
