G6PC1 and Hypoglycemia: Although feeding sesame seeds differently changed the levels of mRNAs for the key enzymes in gluconeogenesis (phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase (PEPCK), glucose-6-phosphatase (G6Pase), PPARγ-coactivator 1α (PGC-1α), and aquaporins 3 and 9) between wild-type mice and PPARα-null mice, these small changes could not fully explain the sesame-seed-induced persisting hypoglycemia in the PPARα-null mice.
