NcoA4 was initially discovered as a component of Ret Fused Gene (RFG), a novel fusion protein expressed in papillary thyroid carcinoma, that combines the N-terminal region of NcoA4 with the constitutively active tyrosine kinase domain of the ret oncogene (Fig. 1) [2]. The gene discussed is NCOA4; the disease is thyroid gland papillary carcinoma.
