Novel studies are also needed that look at age-dependence and how deficits in NF-κB activity might contribute to memory impairments in Alzheimer’s disease, and other CNS disorders, etc. Given that some preliminary work with NF-κB p50 knockouts have shown exacerbations in neuronal degeneration [3], work in this area would be warranted. Here, NFKB1 is linked to early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
