Although the standard of care for osteoporosis patients has traditionally relied on anti-resorptive drugs [1], [63], last decade advances in the knowledge of bone biology have highlighted the need for additional anabolic treatments in this disease, and several agents, including calcilytic drugs and antagonists of Wnt inhibitors (such as antibodies against sclerostin and anti-DKK1) are now being evaluated in clinical trials (reviewed in [1]). The gene discussed is DKK1; the disease is osteoporosis.
