TNF and infection: Similar to reports from other investigators, infection with influenza A was associated with an increase in BAL fluid pro-inflammatory cytokines including TNF-α (Fig. 5A, Udorn; Fig. 5B, WSN; other time points after infection shown in Figure S5A) and IL-6 (Fig. 5C, Udorn; Fig. 5D, WSN; other time points after infection shown in Figure S5B); however, there were no significant differences in any of the cytokines measured between control and rosuvastatin-treated mice (Fig. 5; other cytokines are shown in Figure S5C).
