Metastasis-associated in colon cancer-1 (MACC1), a newly identified CRC tumorigenesis and metastasis related gene, has recently been identified to act as a key activator of the metastasis-inducing HGF/Met signaling pathway, promoting proliferation, invasion and HGF-induced scattering of CRC cells in cell culture and tumor growth and metastasis in xenograft models [16]. This evidence concerns the gene HGF and colorectal carcinoma.
