In a recent study performed in SLE, a three-variant haplotype in CD226 gene, comprising CD226 rs763361-rs34794968-rs727088, was found to be associated with SLE and the authors proposed that rs727088 may be the single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) with a functional influence on CD226 transcription levels [23]. Here, CD226 is linked to systemic lupus erythematosus.
