Although the abundant connective tissue proteinases including MMPs (MMP-1, -2, -3, -9, -12, and -13), serine proteases (tissue-type plasminogen activator (t-PA); urokinase-type plasminogen activator (u-PA); plasmin; and neutrophil elastase), as well as cysteine proteases (cathepsin D, K, L, and S) [61] have been described in the human AAA tissues, the most attentions have been kept on the members of the matrix metalloproteinase family [24, 62–65].
