Recently, Byon et al. [29] have reported that Runx2 promoted the osteoblastic differentiation of macrophages by up-regulating the expression of receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa B ligand (RANKL), which mediates the crosstalk between CVSMCs and migration and differentiation of macrophages into osteoclast-like cells in the atherosclerotic lesions. Here, RUNX2 is linked to Atherosclerotic lesion.
