Messenger RNA concentrations of interleukin-1 beta (IL-1b, 0.35 ± 0.05 vs 1.47 ± 0.24, p = 0.04), and scavenger receptor A (SR-A, 0.56 ± 0.13 vs 1.62 ± 0.20, p = 0.02) were significantly increased in AS, whereas those of SR-B1 (p = 0.002) and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR)g (p = 0.006) were decreased (data not shown). This evidence concerns the gene IL1B and aortic stenosis.
