Transient hyperglycemia causes epigenetic modifications in the promoter of the NF-κB p65 subunit inducing a sustained increase in NF-κB expression and NF-κB-dependent VCAM-1 and MCP-1 expression for 6 days after restoration of normoglycemia [97], a phenomena termed epigenetic memory. This evidence concerns the gene NFKB1 and Hyperglycemia.
