Indeed, our preliminary experiments suggested that chemical inhibition of ACACA using TOFA (5-tetradecyloxy-2-furoic acid, ACACA antagonist) or small interfering RNA-mediated ACACA silencing results in the induction of apoptosis in Bcl-xL-overexpressing human small cell lung carcinoma Ms-1 cells when combined with anti-tumor drugs as does incednine (unpublished observation), suggesting that ACACA might be a molecular target of incednine. The gene discussed is ACACA; the disease is small cell lung carcinoma.
