However the most common translocation in ocular adnexal MALT lymphomas is the t(14;18) (q32;q21) (Figure 5b), which seems to be one of the main pathogenic mechanisms leading to reduced apoptotic activity, resulting in uncontrolled expression of MALT1 by bringing the MALT1 gene under the control of the IGH enhancer, a mechanism similar to that used by t(1;14). Here, MALT1 is linked to lymphoma.
