From the first step of the analysis we find eleven genes (Gch1, Zfp69, Dlgap1, Gna14, Yy1, Gabarapl1, Folr2, Fdft1, Cnr2, Slc24a3, and Ccl19), as well as a single nucleotide polymorphism (rs3664823) that are directly linked to the downstream metabolic phenotypes and have independent evidence of being associated with obesity or obesity related pathologies (along with 52 novel genetic variables). Here, GNA14 is linked to obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
