To further characterize the mechanism underlying growth inhibition, we performed cell cycle analysis and demonstrated that inhibition of OLFM4 expression induced gastric cancer cells to accumulate in G1 phase of the cell cycle, suggesting that down-regulated OLFM4 may exert an inhibitory effect on cell growth by a mechanism regulating cell cycle progression not involving apoptosis in gastric cancer cells. Here, OLFM4 is linked to gastric cancer.
