An important cause behind the execution of resistance by this overwhelming disease is the enhanced cellular efflux of a wide variety of structurally distinct classes of chemotherapeutic agents because of overexpression of the MDR proteins like MRP-1 and LRP etc. Addition to that, overexpression of antiapoptotic protein bcl-2, NFκB and inactivation of many signaling pathways like MDM2 mediated inactivation of p53 proteins, mutation of pRb gene notably contribute to drug resistance in retinoblastoma [3], [4].
