Studies have documented a significant association of FCN2 promoter genotypes (−986G>A, −602G>A and −4A>G) to serum ficolin levels in a Danish population and also on significant associations of the FCN2 haplotypes (AAAG, AGAG, AGGG, GGAG and GGAT) with serum ficolin-2 levels in Gabonese children with mild malaria and the AAAG haplotype was associated with the highest ficolin levels [13], [36]. The gene discussed is FCN2; the disease is malaria.
