Over the last few years there have been a large number of reports on the use of biologic therapies to treat uveitis.1 Studies on anti-tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α therapies and recombinant interferon (IFN)-α dominate the uveitis literature, with a limited number of reports on monoclonal antibody therapies against interleukins (for example IL-2 and IL-1b) and the vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). The gene discussed is VEGFA; the disease is uveitis.
