Several recent studies have suggested that blood-based inflammatory markers, such as C-reactive protein (CRP), serum CD26 (sCD26) and complement C3a anaphylatoxin (C3a), may have potential to complement CRC screening methods (Habermann et al, 2006; De Chiara et al, 2010; Kwon et al, 2010; Nielsen et al, 2011).
