Univariate analysis (OR [95% CI] showed that co-infection with HCV (12.98 [5.49-30.71]), chronic elevation of ALT (3.66 [1.69-7.93]), AST (10.71 [4.63-24.80]) and γ-GT (4.11 [1.75-9.64]) and cumulative exposure to certain antiretrovirals including protease inhibitors (1.00 [1.00-1.04]) and dideoxynucleosides (1.01 [1.00-1.02]) were all associated with significant liver fibrosis as measured by TE alone. This evidence concerns the gene GPT and Hepatic fibrosis.
