TBX22 and cleft palate with or without ankyloglossia, X-linked: Importantly, TBX22 was recently also implicated in cleft palate formation in humans in that up to 5% of children with non-syndromic cleft palate have mutations in TBX22 [42], and TBX22 loss in humans is associated with X-linked cleft palate with ankyloglossia (CPX) [43].
