In karyotypically abnormal leiomyomas, cytogenetic aberrations commonly include deletions in 7q, trisomy of chromosome 12, and various translocations between chromosomes 12 and 14 involving the high mobility group AT-hook 2 (HMGA2) gene at 12q15, which encodes a transcriptional regulator [6], [7], [8], [9]. The gene discussed is HMGA2; the disease is leiomyoma.
