CYP19A1 and dyslexia: We also characterized several functional properties of the CYP19A1 gene and its products, such as the correlation of its mRNA expression with other dyslexia-associated genes, in different regions of adult human brain; the binding capacity of specific transcription factors to two SNPs surrounding the brain specific promoter of the gene; and in vivo studies of the aromatase role in the growth of rat embryonic hippocampal neurons as well as in the formation of the cortex in mice.
