Most counselees (75; 48.7%) also overestimated the risk of hereditary cancer running in their family, (average overestimation of 25.68 percentage points (SD = 17.84)) and their risk of being a carrier of a BRCA1/2 mutation (92; 61.3%; average overestimation of 23.46 percentage points (SD = 18.66)). Here, BRCA1 is linked to hereditary cancer.
