The appearance of a decreased volume in specific brain regions of the Cplx1−/− animals at the early stage and its non-progressive nature suggests that the loss of Cplx1 affects the early development of these animals.Cplx1−/− mice present with a very early motor phenotype (ataxia from postnatal day 7; [19]). This evidence concerns the gene CPLX1 and cerebellar ataxia.
