However, we observed slight methylation differences in infants born to women with and those without histological evidence of chorioamnionitis at delivery (p value <0.18); chorioamnionitis was considered for confounding in the IGF2 and H19 DMR analyses as it exhibited significant methylation differences at p ≤ 0.20, as were race/ethnicity, birth weight and three correlated factors; maternal BMI, weight gain during pregnancy and mode of delivery.
