Among the CDH11 hypermethylated cases, 92% (12 of 13) and 88% (7 of 8) significantly corresponded to lymph node metastasis of head and neck carcinomas and melanomas, respectively; whilst only 8% and 12% of the CDH11 hypermethylation events occurred in primary tumour samples (Figure 5A) (Fisher's exact test, p = 0.0017 and p = 0.022, respectively). This evidence concerns the gene CDH11 and melanoma.
