The cytotoxicity of metabolites 1–5 against human promyelocytic leukemia (HL60), human breast carcinoma (MDA-MB-231) and human colon adenocarcinoma (HCT-116 and DLD-1) cell lines was studied, and the ability of 1–5 to inhibit the expression of the pro-inflammatory iNOS (inducible nitric oxide synthase) and COX-2 (cyclooxygenase-2) proteins in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated RAW264.7 macrophage cells was also evaluated. This evidence concerns the gene NOS2 and breast carcinoma.
