CD4 and HIV infectious disease: Patients tended to be diagnosed at symptomatic stages of the HIV infection (n = 21, 87.5%) with a low baseline and nadir lymphocyte CD4 counts (median 62 cells/μl [IQR: 23–246 cells/μl] and 35 cells/μl [IQR: 10–144 cells/μl, respectively) and a high baseline HIV-1 viraemia (median of 5.6 log HIV-1 copies/ml [IQR: 4.9–6 log HIV-1 copies/ml]).
