In contrast, individuals with TB at baseline tended to be at decreased risk for failure to recover to a CD4 cell counts below 500 cells/mm3 at 30 months (OR 0.58, 95% CI: 0.33–1.03; p = 0.065) despite significantly lower baseline CD4 cell counts in TB co-infected individuals versus TB negative subjects (median CD4 cell counts 72 vs 110 cells/mm3, p = 0.0003). This evidence concerns the gene CD4 and tuberculosis.
