Secondary analyses were performed to ascertain whether fetal leukocyte telomere length related to race or intraamniotic infection (IAI) status (documented by microbial culture of amniotic fluid, histologic chorioamnionitis or funisitis, or by clinical signs of infection that included fever [>102°F], high C-reactive protein, abdominal tenderness or foul smelling vaginal discharge). This evidence concerns the gene CRP and chorioamnionitis.
