Among the drugs used to suppress or inhibit TNF-α expression, pentoxifylline (PTX), a nonselective phosphodiesterase inhibitor reported to decrease TNF-α gene transcription as well as affect multiple steps in the cytokine pathway by direct or indirect inhibition of TNF-α, is currently used in the clinical field for treatment of cardiovascular disease [4, 7–9]. Here, TNF is linked to cardiovascular disorder.
