The use of the PARP1 and PARP2 inhibitor, olaparib, has been studied in a phase I clinical trial for the treatment of advanced breast and ovarian cancer patients with BRCA1/2 germline mutation as well as in a phase II trial in advanced breast cancer patients with BRCA1/2 mutations, with both studies showing promising results [112, 113].
