Pepducins corresponding to ICL1 and ICL3 of the chemokine receptors CXCR1 and CXCR2 function as selective antagonists of these receptors and inhibit Gs-mediated effects of interleukin-8, a ligand for these receptors, neutrophil chemotaxis toward interleukin-8 in particular, as well as reverse disseminated intravascular coagulation and liver failure in septic mice and prevent the lethal sequel of sepsis. This evidence concerns the gene CXCL8 and Sepsis.
