To examine the histological and pathological changes in the LGN at each stage of experimental glaucoma, coronal sections including the LGN were stained with cresyl violet, and for antibodies against PBR, ionized calcium-binding adaptor molecule 1 (Iba-1; a microglial marker), and glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP; an activated astrocyte marker) (Figs. 6, 7, 8 and Table 2). This evidence concerns the gene GFAP and glaucoma.
