FLT3 and acute myeloid leukemia: Mutations leading to constitutive activation of FLT3, which is involved in regulating the proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis of myeloid progenitors, occur in the blasts of about 30% of patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) [2–4], highlighting the potential utility of therapies targeting FLT3 in AML treatment.
