Recently some studies have added primary Sjögren's syndrome to the rapidly expanding list of autoimmune diseases (e.g., multiple sclerosis, systemic lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis, and psoriasis) in which cytokines IL-17 and IL-23 are now implicated [12, 21–27]. The gene discussed is IL17A; the disease is systemic lupus erythematosus.
