These patients had lower albumin levels (3.8 ± 0.2 mg/dL vs. 4.2 ± 0.3 mg/dL, P = 0.014), lower baseline platelet counts (94,400 ± 29,399/μL vs. 122,867 ± 19,843/μL, P = 0.035), and higher international normalized ratio (INR) of prothrombin time (PT) (1.14 ± 0.06 vs. 1.05 ± 0.07, P = 0.008) than did the other 120 patients, who did not discontinue treatment because of severe thrombocytopenia.
