The mechanisms of anti-cancer activity of tocopherols have been investigated for many years [39,71,72] and can be summarized as follows: (a) inhibition of ER (b) increasing peroxisome proliferator activated receptor γ (PPARγ) expression and activity, (c) induction of Nrf2, (d) antioxidative and anti-inflammatory activities, and (e) induction of apoptosis [28,39,43,72,73]. This evidence concerns the gene PPARG and cancer.
