On the other hand, we found that the novel protein kinase C epsilon (PKCε) mRNA was more abundant in human fatty livers (153%, p<0.05) (Fig. 9D) and in NAFL patients (316%, p<0.01) (Fig. 9E), suggesting that higher PKC expression and/or activity (likely PKCε) could be associated with the down-regulation of Foxa1 in human steatotic livers. Here, FOXA1 is linked to non-alcoholic fatty liver.
