NFKB1 and Parkinson disease: Very recently it has been shown that inhibition of NF-κB activation by the use of NF-κB essential modifier-binding domain peptides (NBDs) provides neuroprotection against MPTP-induced toxicity, by preventing the expression of proinflammatory molecules (Ghosh et al., 2007), thus demonstrating a role for NF-κB in the MPTP-model of PD.
